Lauren Pachman currently serves as general counsel and director of regulatory affairs for the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA), where she works with independent insurance agents, Congress, state and federal legislators and regulators, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), FEMA and other federal agencies, and other stakeholders to improve the experiences of independent flood insurance agents, consumers, and prospective consumers. Her work to improve the NFIP has spanned the past 16 years, beginning with her role as a public policy analyst for the American Academy of Actuaries.

 

Lauren’s written work is frequently published on the PIA Advocacy blog and in Newsline and Connection, PIA’s traditional weekly and monthly publications. Since 2017, she has also served on the Board of Directors for the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR), and she served on the Board of the Industry Education Council from 2017-2022.

 

Lauren began her career as a trial attorney, managing and litigating complex medical professional liability, premises liability, and insurance cases in and around the Washington, D.C. metro area after graduating from The George Washington University Law School.

She now lives in northern Virginia with her husband and daughter. In her spare time, she serves as a local Girl Scout troop leader.
